If I receive the translation by email, is that ok for the French administration (ANTS), or do they need a hard copy?

The answer of ANTS is :

You need documents, "photographed or scanned."

"However, the instructor service can request the originals if necessary."

So please submit the digital copy you will receive and just to be on the safe side, pick up the hard copies as well.
